Christmas Day........

Waiting for a doggie Christmas cookie!!

Fun and games on Christmas day with Miss Amy and Miss Millie!! Getting them to pose for the camera was a nightmare!!! Amy was not amused and completely ignore commands and walked off set - typical Dachsie behaviour!!
Millie thought this was all very exciting and just couldn't contain herself and so got a fit of the wiggles and giggles!!
All I got was a fit of frustration and groans and the odd giggle or two - you can't stay serious with those two for very long as they can be such clowns:o))

We are not amused!!!

Lacey came back.........

'Lacey' the Lace Monitor came back for another visit. I knew something was up when all the birds started their alarm calls. Millie and Amy shot through the dog flap to check out what was happening - they know the birds alarm calls very well! Yep, it was the big guy going across the grass. Off went my two brave girls in pursuit - they know they can bark and dance around at a distance but no way can they touch or harm. This time though Lacey stood his ground and poor Millie nearly wet her knickers and started back for the house LOL!! Spitfire Miss Amy stood her ground as little as she is against this meter and a half Lizard!! Anyway, in the end he played safe and headed for the nearest tree where hubby got some really good photo's of him.

ADOPTED

Meet Samuel who decided to squeeze himself in just in time for Christmas - he is a little different to what I usually do but I reckon he has turned out okay - even if I do say so myself!!
Well it is the silly season and we all do a few silly things at this time of the year LOL!!

A stroll across the yard..........

Look what came visiting the other day! I was just gazing out the kitchen window while eating my Cornflakes when this guy just strolled across the yard and into the flower bed. He or she is a Lace Monitor and over a metre in length from nose to tip of tail so pretty big!
Hubby went after him/her with camera in hand across the garden and managed to get a picture of him/her up the tree.
We know they are around but this is the first time we actually got to see one out in the open!

Fletcher here........

ADOPTED
Fletcher decided to put in an appearance before the BIG day and join in the silly season fun!
You can find Fletcher on my website http://www.brimbinforestbears.com/acatalog/index.html or here http://www.bearpile.com/item/92883 and also on http://artistbearsinternational.com/en/home/934-fletcher.html

Not a lot of that happening at the moment as we are suffering a bit of a heatwave with temps bouncing around the 38 - 41 degrees!! They reckon it is a little unusual for this time of the year. The grass is dying and the trees and plants are drooping! Water restrictions and a total fire ban. Air con and fans doing overtime and not at all comfortable working on the bears but I battle on!!
Wishing you all a good weekend where ever you are..........

ESTHER and a touch of Japanese garden........

ADOPTED

New girl on the block today is Esther who posed very nicely for the camera! Sitting pretty and waiting for a new home:o)
Hubby has been playing with pebbles and pavers and succulents and ended up with a sort of Japanese garden going on and very nice it is too! Well the birds and parrots are loving the water baths and this morning I watched a big fat Magpie having a real splash around - just about emptied it of water and had a bit of trouble taking off!!

Steiff Bear 'Mr Saggy'..........

Okay I've had a camera moment and got a couple of nice poses of 'Mr Saggy' - yes that is what I have named him but I am hoping to put that right by stuffing that area including his hump at the back - going to be interesting to have a peek inside his body!

PETER bear........

ADOPTED

What a week I've had......firstly the dishwasher died of old age which I suppose is not too bad seeing as it was 24 years old! Bought a new one which is now all fitted and working very nicely! Hubby fitted and plumbed it in and the bad language was quite mild for him so me or the dogs didn't have to take cover and keep our distance!!
Last night we had water coming down through the ceiling and yes I own up it was my fault - I forgot to turn the taps off over the bath after using the shower spray after washing my hair!! It's a bit of a complicated system so won't bore you with the details!
There was a happy moment when Peter the bear was adopted not long after I put him up - so he will be off to his new home this week:o))
Ooohhh! Nearly forgot I did have another happy moment when an old Steiff bear arrived and he is just adorable (will put a pic up of him soon) and the face gets me every time! He is in pretty good condition for his age seeing as he is from around 1948 and comes with a bit of history as he has a small tag on his arm which says USA zone Germany - his button is missing but there is a green mark where it use to be - he is around 38cm.

MILTON.......

ADOPTED

A new bear on the block who goes by the name of 'Milton' and he is waiting patiently in the bears departure lounge for someone to come along and adopted him:o))
It has been quite busy at bear central recently with many bears making their way to Scotland and England - so it has been sometime for Milton to make it to this stage in his life!
Anyway, it is the start of another week and Spring is in the air and there are a lot of happy parrots and birds around. Two baby birds have flown the nest which was in a tree by the house so was able to watch all the comings and goings. They haven't gone far just to another tree near the house where they sit and scream 'feed me'!! most of the day:o))
Have a good week everyone!!

Going away.........

ADOPTED
Emmett will soon be leaving home to go and live in France where I know it is going to be warmer for him than it is here at the moment brrrrrr!! We have blue skies and sunny BUT the wind is blowing and it is cold!!
Poor Miss Amy disappears and snuggles down inside her pillow cover and will only venture out if there is food on offer especially chicken!! She adores chicken and if I put out a couple of chicken necks for her and Miss Millie she patrols the kitchen area until they are given them!

In my garden........

The other day I was privileged to find and see a Bower which is made by the male Satin Bower bird to woo the female. The male is a iridescent black with a sapphire blue eye and the female is a green though the male is also green for the first 7 years.
The blue bits are provide by me and my neighbour as we leave them in a bird feeder especially for this bird! Though a bit of a shy bird we have had a gathering of females in the bushes or around the bird bath.

GILBERT......

ADOPTED
New bear on the block is GILBERT who is now ready to leave the departure lounge of Bear Central:o)
Today is the first day of Winter brrrrrr!! I have already dragged a few Winter clothes out of retirement and my feet have had a screaming protest at having to wear shoes again - usually live in sandals or thongs.
Had a great walk on the beach with the dogs this week - just us (hubby) the dogs and a deserted beach - found some nice coloured pebbles and a piece of beach glass.
Wishing you all a very good weekend..........

In my garden......this flower is growing out of the tree which is called a 'FireWheel Tree' a type of Protea. Also a Queensland rainforest tree and very ancient and the seeds generally only germinate if exposed to smoke.

Feathered visitor.....

This little guy is a Eastern Spinebill and comes visiting during May and June. He tends to hang out in the Greavillia bushes - have a good feed and sing his little heart out!! For such a little guy he sure can be pretty noisy LOL!

JEROME is now ready........

ADOPTED
Jerome is now waiting patiently in the bears departure lounge to be adopted so that he can join someone's hug:o)
Bears are like dogs when it comes to selective hearing! I've got 2 girls who are well practised in the art of selective hearing - they are so good at it they don't even twitch their ears!!

MAISY girl.......

ADOPTED

Another bear was born but didn't stay at home very long as she is now on her way to France hoo la la!!
Did some tidying up outside this morning and just had to take a photo of Miss Millie on parrot watch! The parrots are above her head on the feeders hanging in the tree!
She always sits in that spot because she thinks they can't see her - silly Millie LOL!
They know she is there and tease her by chuckling and I'm sure calling her silly names too!

ANTONIO.......

ADOPTED
A very cheeky Antonio did a lot of posing for the camera this morning as he reckons he is more than ready to leave home. Thought I would give him a little bit of the Italian touch as my ancestors were from Italy.
I think Winter is knocking at the door as it is getting quite chilly especially in the evenings and early morning - how do I know this - well, a certainly little lady by the name of Miss Amy now goes inside the pillow after meticulous undoing all the poppers on the cover - instead of on top!!
Wishing you all a good weekend........

DIGGER the dog.......

ADOPTED
Today I thought I would show off my answer to a vintage style Terrier type dog who is now ready to leave home. I have been playing around with this idea for quite some time as I love these old antique/vintage dogs and I am lucky enough to own 2 genuine old Terriers from the 1930's which went into helping me create Digger. There is room for improvement but that will happen with the next one!

My moment of fame.........

There is a very nice 3 page artist profile about me and my bears in the latest Teddy Bear Times magazine April/May issue and a chance for the bears to show off! I am so pleased and proud of it too:o))

CHESTER bear......

ADOPTED

Chester is not going to be in the bear room for very long as he will soon be off to his new home in Sydney to join one of his mates who went there last year. But he just wanted to show off before he left - these bears do tend to get quite bossy at times!!
Have a good weekend everyone:o))
