Well charming Pierre has now finished with all his posing in front of the camera and is now looking forward to being someone's Valentine:o)) I really do get so much fun and pleasure out of doing these oldies and always looking forward to taking on the next one!

We started the day with a really bad storm the thunder and lighting was even making me jump! Poor Millie was really stressed out and hiding under my desk - all I could do was keep her calm and reassure her. Amy was just fine with it all and she even wore her pink raincoat to go outside for a pee LOL!

We are going down to Sydney in 2 weeks time to stay with daughter & hubby for about a week get our dose of suburbia and do things that we don't get to do where we live.

I did have a new bear for 2012 called Ollie (thought I would show a picture of him anyway) but I'm afraid he didn't stay around along before setting off on his journey to a much cooler climate - wish I could have joined him because it is so steamy at the moment, yuck! Watch this space because there is another new bear about to put in an appearance - just got to have a posing session then we are ready to face the public:o))
Amy the mini Dachs hates the rain and getting wet and so ping! went the light bulb and I think I have the answer - so here she is wearing the latest in doggie fashion - somehow I don't think she is very amused LOL! I know Millie wasn't because she chased her all over the house trying to rip it off her!

I've had a busy week and many bears will be leaving very soon for their new homes:o)) New girl Selina is still hoping someone will take her home for Christmas which is coming up real quick and like every year I'm not ready for it! Usually it all gets done at the last minute and the family is arriving on Christmas day. This year we have decided to have the big meal the day after and I get to put my feet up and not do a thing as Simon (son) is going to be doing all the cooking with help from the others - my poor kitchen will look like a bomb has hit it!!

That nasty virus is all gone now and I am so much better and back to normal - so much so I have just finished another oldie called Emma:o)) We had the posing session this morning and the lighting was not too good due to it being a miserable day outside. It has been raining more or less non stop since Wednesday! I actually bought a doggie raincoat with hood for Amy (Mini Dachs) because she so hates the rain and will not go outside until she reaches bursting point and even then she has to think about it LOL!

It's been awhile since I've got to finished a bear but that's all down to having caught a really nasty virus which left me no good to anyone or anything LOL! It took a long time for me to kick it into touch but now I am feeling so much better and I finished off this little guy Jasper:o)) I also joined in another TT swap and made a Christmas teddy bauble but I can't show that yet as my swap partner hasn't received it yet.

I really did take a huge leap out of my comfort zone this time and I know this is a long time in coming BUT at long last I finished Vanilla girl, hooray!! A case of work in progress for about the last 4 months! I'm pretty pleased with myself for my first attempt:o)) I did everything on this doll from putting her together, painting and all of the outfit. Was not such an easy job taking the pictures of this one, aarrgghhh!! She had a mind of her own when it came to posing! A sloooowwwww process! - for me anyway - but I got there in the end!! I did actually enjoy doing her and IF there is a next time I would like to improve on the painting and also a few things on the outfit too.

New bear on the block who goes by the name of VICTOR and being a pretty bossy bear he reckons he is a handsome fella and looking very smart, hmmmm!!
Yesterday I took myself off to the local Orchid Nursery as I felt in need of some Orchids as I do love these plants - the colours and the flowers are really something! I have quite a few native ones which grow wild nearby in the Manning Valley - a small flower but a beautiful smell to them. I must have spent a couple of hours at the nursery because I'm like a kid let loose in the candy store:o)) Enjoy the pics I've put up of my Orchids......

Well the end of another week and I've been fairly busy messing around with the bears and today I have Molly to show off - certainly getting the hang of getting the girls to come out:o)) There is another bear waiting in the wings but he is a little shy and doesn't want to show himself just yet. Geez! and I thought my dogs were fussy LOL!

It is very smokey around us at the moment - not sure if they are having a burn off in the forest which is at the end of my road or whether someone is doing it on their property. I know someone is having a pile burn tomorrow because a person from the fire brigade stopped by to let us know.

Yet another week has whizzed pass but I finished another newbie/oldie which I had fun doing - just love doing these old timers:o)) I've got some really nice dyed pieces of mohair made up which I think are going to look really good when turned into a bear.
It's a really nice warm sunny day outside so I may just grab a book sit outside and watch the world go by - that is if the parrots can keep the noise down - geez! it is worse than a mother's meeting when that lot get together LOL!

Hand Dyed Mohair......

It's Sunday afternoon and once again the weekend is nearly over - where has it gone?! Yesterday I had great fun and played with the dye pots and came up with some really nice colours:o)) There was one colour I did which I don't think is really suitable for my oldies even though it is a really nice Jade Green colour - so I'm going to offer it for sale for someone else to make a nice bear from.
Friday was a big day as Samantha (daughter) had her 4 wisdom teeth taken out - it was a bit of a stuff up as she only wanted to have 2 of them taken out and that's what she booked for. To say she was not amused is an understatement because it was very expensive - her hubby queried it and of course they came up with all sorts of excuses!
I found a Bush tick on Millie the other day (first one in 6 years, not bad going) so it was operation 'Tick' - I have a special tick hook remover so I let himself in on the action - he removed it and lost it! Knew I should have done the job myself:o)) We spent ages looking for it - never found it until the next day back on Millie's neck again! Did the job properly this time and it is now one very dead tick! After finding the tick first time I promptly put on the drops (Advantix) which I always use for the tick season which is usually Sept. through to about April. This time though I bought the Advantix DIY kit as it works out cheaper for the 2 of them.
Anyway, suppose I had better get back to bear business and hope everyone has a good week:o))

Well here we are into another weekend and for us it is cold, wet and windy yucky! A quiet weekend this time compared to the last one when Simon & Teresa (son and his partner) came for a visit and when my son is around things are pretty crazy but it's all good fun:o)) Shouldn't grumble because it makes for good bear making:o)) Talking of which I have just finished another old timer but I can't show him off just yet as we still have to have our photo session which I am hoping will be tomorrow.

For the first time I thought I would offer a couple of pieces of hand dyed mohair for sale to see what reaction I get or interest. I think there are plenty of people out there who like the hand dyed mohair but are not interested in doing their own.

Well another week has just whizzed past again and it is Saturday afternoon already! It has been a busy week finishing Amelia off and doing some very boring chores, yuck! I am going to creep out of my comfort zone for a short time and make up a doll - shock, horror! Because I am not really a doll person - there are a few that I like and I do have a very small collection. The one that I am going to make up is a very good subsitute for the BJD Super Dollfie and at the moment I am busy gathering all the bits and pieces I will need to make her and her outfit. I've always like these dolls but I don't like the prices and so have never bought one. I am going to be artistic later today and put together a Bonsai tree and hope like hell it will survive! I have 2 that I bought - one is a Port Jackson Fig and the other is a Conifer and so far so good and both are doing really well. When it comes to plants or anything to do with gardening I do not have green fingers more like as hubby likes to say the kiss of death! LOL!

What a week it has been so far but I did manage to finish another old timer and it's a girl!! How about that! I think I must be starting to do something right at long last:o)) It is certainly bear making weather at the moment - cold and windy and not nice to be outside even the dogs only go out if they really have to as they are not too keen on having the wind whistling around their under carriage LOL!
I think I've found some muscles I didn't know I had! Once a year we have a bulk waste collection where you can put out all your old unwanted stuff like washing machines, fridges, TV's etc so that's what I have been doing this morning - gathering all the stuff for hubby to take down to the front of the property phewie! It feels good to have a good clear out that's for sure!

Well the boys have it as I have just finished creating Horace - I managed to hunt down some Steampunk charms which I thought would look good as old vintage style pieces to add as accessories. Well all the rain has gone now and there has been a lot of cleaning up going on in town and most of the pot holes have been filled though I came across a few which I had to dodge this morning! Sunny blue skies today but cold and windy brrrrrr!! My poor fingers are having trouble trying to hit the right keys as they are getting colder and colder. Believe it or not we do get snow here in Australia but it is further inland and in some of the mountain areas - even have places where people can go skiing!

I tried and tried but it didn't go to plan and the boys are back! This old timer was finished over the long weekend - couldn't do much else as we have been getting heavy rains since last week which has caused a lot of flooding in my area and many places are cut off and other places are being evacuated. The river rose higher than exspected and so parts of the town have flooded as well as properties which are along the river banks. Luckily we are fine and just have instant large duck ponds around the property. I went into town yesterday and had to play dodge the pot holes and let me tell you there were plenty of them! Anyway, more rain today but it is suppose to be getting better tomorrow, hope so! The laundry is backing up and the dogs are fed up keeping there legs crossed until they are so desperate they have to brave the rain - maybe I should invest in some doggie rain coats LOL!

Hope you all had a good weekend:o)) I finished another new bear over the weekend who is a little bit different in design but still enjoyed making him. Notice I said 'him' yep it's another boy bear - did try for a girl but it just wasn't going to happen, so what's new! LOL!

Today hubby has decided to act the part of Lumberjack and take down a very tall Palm that is growing too close to the house - this is at the back of the house as we also have a very tall one growing at the front of the house as well. Now, the best part is he wants me to hang on to the rope! Why me?! What have I done to deserve this and as you can imagine I am not having a very good feeling about this ho-hummm! I just hope he knows what he is doing LOL!

Well I hope you all had a good weekend and they certainly fly pass don't they! I spent most of mine dying pieces of mohair and grooming and clipping one of the dogs so now she is looking a very smart girlie - though I got no thanks for it just a look of 'did you really have to do that because I didn't enjoy it one bit'! With Winter just about upon us it is already getting colder and time to drag the Winter woolies out of retirement. When the dogs start snuggling up and are not too keen to go on their adventures around the garden and Amy gets inside the pillow cover instead of on top and rolls on her back to have her doggie coat on then you know it is cold LOL!
Well I can now reveal the swap bear I sent to my swap partner in the UK and after keeping everything crossed I can let a huge sigh of relief as he arrived there safely and she is very happy and pleased with him - I now await the arrival of her bear to me!

Is it a boy?! Is it a girl?! Hooray! it is a girlie bear:o)) Why am I shouting well it doesn't happen very often if at all that I can come up with a girlie bear - I always seem to produce boy bears without even trying, big sighs! I wasn't too sure about the head but friends assure me it is a nice head and its fine, ummmm! Well, all I can say is that the head must be nice as I have just sold her so happy smiles:o))

The mystery of the old guy in my previous post is still on going though it has been established that he is English and someone was more than sure that he is a Alpha Farnell dating from the late 40's/50's which I would go along with as I found a picture of a bear that looks so much like him but then someone else has come along and he reckons that is not right and that he is a Chiltern dating from the 30's - how confusing! Back to more researching though I tend to be in favour of the Alpha Farnell.

A few weeks back I bought this old bear who has a certain charm I just could not resist! Yes he does need a lot of TLC and I plan on doing this though not too much as I wouldn't like him to loose his charm. He is about 38cm tall in mohair and mainly stuffed with wood wool and a small amount of Kapok - has a non working growler - cotter pin joints. Poor thing is missing an eye I am struggling a little here in identifying him as I can't even make up my mind if he is German or English If anyone can be of help it would be very much appreciated

FAIRY RING

Hope you are all having a good week - I have been busy making another bear as I am taking part in a bear swap which has been organized by another beary person on Teddy-Talk. We each get our own swap partner and mine is a very nice lady in the UK - she doesn't know what I am going to make for her and I don't get to know what she is going to make for me but it is a real fun thing to do - took part in one a couple of years back and I received the most gorgrous mohair dog which she modeled on my dog Millie (Norwich Terrier) - that was really some surprise! She called her Muffin and I've added a picture of her so you can all see what she looks like.

Now, the other picture is of a Fairy Ring which we found at the bottom of our garden - first time I have seen one of these but hubby reckons he has seen them before.

It seems they also go by other names such as fairy circle, elf circle, elf ring and pixie ring, and is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms.

How you all doing and yep the start of another week - I must have missed something as that weekend sure flashed pass! Maybe I was just very busy finishing little boy blue and didn't notice:o))

Though the weather really didn't want to go in my favour I did manage to dye more pieces of mohair and achieve some of those old fashion colours.

The girls have been chasing one of our resident lizard's - poor thing, though they will not harm him or her. I'll say one thing he/she is very brave he will turn on the dogs open his mouth and then chase them - very funny to watch!

At long last I have managed to come up with a girl bear and decided to name her after one of my dogs. She got the seal of approval from dog Millie after having to suffer a good checking out - well, what is a girl suppose to do when her name is given to a bear!

We've had another visitor to the garden and close to the house - again we had to investigate after the 'we've found something barks' went off. It was another snake hanging out in one of the trees - about 1 metre long and a beautiful green colour - quick scramble through the book to find that it is a Green Tree snake and harmless. Put the dogs inside the house to give it a chance to get away and himself took lots of photo's of it. So if you are one of those people who freaks out over snakes then look away now!

How you all doing and thank you for the many kind comments which were left on my previous post:o)) Despite being so hot here at the moment which makes sewing a little unpleasant I did manage to finish Archie who had me guessing right up to the end whether he was going to behave and look good or not! I always seem to come up with more boys than I do girls and it is no good me telling myself this one is going to be a girl because it just never works that way for me. My face is all back to normal now after that terrible reaction I had to a face cream and I certainly will not be buying that product again! One good thing came out of it and that was that they refunded all my money.

We may have just been through a heat wave but I did manage to finish another oldie who goes by the name of Theo and joins my 'Oldies but Goodies Collection'. I think it is offical now that I am totally and utterly addicted to this old style look and I think it is all due to the fact I can be more creative which is so much more fun!

Those of you who read my previous posting and that terrible reaction I got to a certain face cream - well, my face is all back to normal now thank goodness! I got in touch with the people who I bought it from and they are going to refund all my money and I don't have to send the products back - so guess where they've gone?!

If anyone doesn't like Bats then look away now! This is a Grey-headed Flying-Fox and is Australia's largest bat with a wing span of 1m - this one is only a baby and seems to have lost his way and is hanging out in one of our trees close to the house - has a lot to say for himself if you get too close LOL!

Well I finished another oldie guy but before I could show him off he was snapped up by one of my collectors but I thought I would show him off anyway:o)) It's funny you know when making these oldies I am always thinking I am not going to really like this one BUT when the final touches are finished I am so pleased with the end result and always a little sorry to see them leave home.

I am a complete wreck at the moment as my face and neck have had a violent reaction to a new face cream that I have recently started using - my poor face looks like it has been burnt with sore dry red patches - rash and swelling especially around the eyes. I may just send some photo's to this skincare company and let them see what their products have done to my skin - do not suppose anything will come of it but it may just make me feel better.

I am now back from our visit to Sydney which was enjoyed by all. Though I really wanted my beauty sleep I managed to stay awake and went out with the others to bring in the New Year and see the fireworks on the harbour bridge - an amazing sight and really glad I saw them.

Anyway, like all good things it has come to an end and I am now busy catching up on a lot of things including the finishing of a bear and a photo session this morning. So, I would like you to meet Percy the much loved oldie and Lottie the pretty colourful girl. Both are looking for good homes and will be on my website and BearPile very soon.

We are off to Sydney today to stay with Samantha and Tony but will be home again next week Friday. Country bumpkins and dogs hit the city! We always have a good time and so do the dogs. If I can stay awake and do a 2k walk we will be watching the firework display over the Sydney harbour bridge.

I just had to show Hettie off as I was so pleased with the way she turned out when finished - I made her as a pressie for my friends birthday - just hope she doesn't take a look at my blog between now and Thursday!

There was a bit of excitement around here this week and it all started with Millie & Amy and their special barks which means 'we've found something' though most unusual for Millie she was doing it through the lounge glass door (we have glass sliding doors out onto a paved area). Dave went to investigate with the dogs in tow and they seemed to home in (I was watching from the kitchen window) on the barbie which is parked against the house wall just pass the glass doors - even the parrots were sending up an alarm call - so being very brave Dave lifted the barbie cover with a long pole and then shouted SNAKE! For once the girls were very obedient and I got them to come inside straight away. He managed to get it out from under the barbie and then sort of pushed it along away from the house. It was about a meter in length and what is known as a Red Belly snake - shiny black with a red strip down it's sides and deadly poisonous but not aggressive and deadly like the Brown snake that we also get around here - in fact the Red Bellies kill the Browns.

It is the first time that I have seen a wild live snake (seen dead ones on the roads) - snakes don't scare me at all but I'm very wary of them which is understandable when most of them out here are deadly and being so close to the house left us feeling a little uneasy - our main concern is for the girls and that is why we always check when they use their special barks and I think Millie must have sensed that this snake was dangerous.

Phewie! I have managed to squeeze in one last colourful bear this side of the silly season:o)) I made her from a lovely soft curly mohair and used an aged vintage lace collar to set all the colours off. She maybe the last bear but it doesn't mean I have stopped sewing - there are bears in progress and more dying to be done at some point too. Anyway, suppose this person better get back to her bear business as I have 2 bears which need to be packed up and sent to their new owner.

Getting on my soap today as I was a little shocked when I took a bear to be posted to America to find that I had to pay a AUD$9 surcharge because it weighed more than 453grams (1lb).

This is apparently to fund the USA's newly introduced package scanning operation - maybe that should read 'scamming' operation - what an outrage! It is almost like another import tax in disguise.
As if the richest country in the world cannot afford to do this as part of their normal operations as every other country in the world does - without a surcharge. Is this the FREE trade we keep hearing about from America?

Not exactly something that you can ask the collector to pay on top of the already high postage. Not a happy bunny when I have 2 more packages to send to America.

For once I had the camera when I needed it and got some really nice pictures of the girl's on their Lizard watch or anything else that moves! They are on their special box with a cushion on top which is kept by the window in the study so that they can sit on there and watch the world go by. This is really Millie's special place but Amy has taken to either shoving Millie to one side and then getting on there with her or Amy will stand there and shout until Millie gives in and gets off so that madam can have the cushion all to herself! Amy really is a very bossy mini Dachs where as Millie is very laid back and so sweet tempered.

So far this week all is going well - that was until this morning when I wanted to cut a piece of cotton - missed that and cut my finger instead which is now encased in a plaster. It's not sore but it took forever to stop the bleeding and hubby did a disappearing act as he goes all weak at the knees at the sight of blood - not much help there then! Last week was a bit of a disaster as the washing machine threw a big hissy fit, fell apart and leaked all over the laundry room floor - luckily I had just got all the laundry finished so not too much screaming and shouting from me! I am now the proud owner of a new washing machine which arrived yesterday and it got the first work out today - very happy bunny am I:o))

Anyway, I got real busy and finished Lotus who's colours are a little unusual and what I was trying to achieve was in capturing the colours of one of my doona covers and I think I got pretty close to it.

Well I've been real busy and managed to finish not one but two new bears! It seemed to take me forever to come up with names for them but I got there in the end and I think their names suit them! I am waiting for himself to put them up on my website - he has gone away for a few days checking out the Central Coast to see if this is where we want to move to. So, it's just me and the dogs and it is so peaceful around here aaarrrhhh bliss!

Another oldie but goodie and she goes by the name of Myrtle! I used a lovely soft sparse curly mohair in a pale pink and lilac. I gave her plenty of aging which I find so much fun to do.

Anyway, I can't really hang out on the blog today as it seems to be one of those days when every time I look at the clock more time has whizzed past and I still have so much more to do!

I can't believe another week has whizzed pass - did I miss something?! Well, it is the first day of the new month and this morning when I went outside with the dogs to breath in the fresh air and contemplate a new day I found that we are surrounded by stinky smoke. It seems they have decided to back burn in the forest as today is the start of the bush fire season. We have had no rain for ages and it is becoming very dry and I've noticed that some of our trees and plants are starting to look a little sad and droopy.

I did manage to finished a bear this week, hooray! The mohair pile is a little longer than what I usually work with but I just couldn't resist this lovely blue - it really is a nice eye catching blue and the cream sets it off so nicely.

Anyway, it is a long weekend for us and the clocks change - just hope I remember to change them at the right time. Samantha is arriving this afternoon leaving hubby behind as he wants to spend sometime with his Dad so looking forward to seeing her and having a good girly gossip:o))

Hooray! another finished bear and another lonely tired and care worn - never thought I would see myself having so much fun putting these oldies together and I have to admit it is becoming addictive! I like all the detailing and accessorizing that can be done.
This crazy lady now has to go and do torture in the form of power walking (don't do running) and give the neighbours something to laugh at as I do it around my property - I do 9 laps which works out to 2.5km and then it is back to making another bear - that's the best part:o))

I had a re-inventing moment and sought out my original head which I fiddled with here and there and the end result was Buffy. I must admit I'm not sure if I enjoy these re-inventing moments as it feels like I have gone backwards when I would much prefer to go forward!

I'm quite excited about a couple of bears that are in the sewing process as I feel I have come out of my comfort zone and I'm working on those care worn oldies - I have a real soft spot for these type of bears and have quite a few in my collection.

It is so windy today and my laundry is literally being spun dry! Bet I end up rescuing undies and such from around the garden LOL!

I've been so busy in the bear making department that I can't really tell you what else has been going on around here big sighs! I do know the sun is shining it's heart out today which is really nice because we have had lots of those nasty grey clouds and some rain and it is still cold!

I do know that Samantha & Tony (daughter & hubby) are due home from their six weeks honeymoon in Croatia tomorrow so it will be good to catch up with them.

I walked the beach with the dogs the other day to blow away all those fuzzy cobwebs which have been stuffing up my brain - hubby came along too BUT it turned out he was really clever and managed to loose his mobile (iPhone so not a cheap one!) and of course we only found this out after we had got home. Like many other guys he goes like this 'have you seen....' or 'I can't find....' or 'I don't know where I've put it' aaarrrggghhhh! It's like having the kids home all over again - don't you just love them!

These pictures of the Wallaby was taken by Dave this morning - this guy has taken to hanging out in our front yard - I walked right pass him as I went down to the front to collect the newspaper and he didn't move so when I came back I stopped and had a chat with him - yeah, I know crazy lady LOL!! He is quite a big guy and known as a Red Neck Wallaby - we also get another type of Wallaby (Swamp Wallabies) which is much smaller and I think it must be the girls as they hang out in a group of 4 or 5 and can be found most days down the far side of the house just in front of the computer room window - quite a large open area of land before it goes into a woody part so if they get the spooks they can bolt into there.

Another bear is born and this time quite a bit different to my usual colourful ones. I've used that lovely soft dense Alpaca/mohair which is a dream to work with. For the first time I have made her arms bendable and another couple of first for me is the Trapunto pads and the needle felted scarf which brought a few tears to my eyes along with plenty of swearing as I think I must have stabbed myself quite a few times!! Ooooohhhh! my poor fingers are sore today:o((

Meet Carmen a bear which I started before I went away and now I have finished her. Can't believe I have been back home a week already! Carmen's face is a little different to what I usually do and I wasn't quite sure if she looked right or not but after a few days of looking at her I think she is pretty cute and the colours have gone well together too. I really must get some more pieces of mohair dyed as I have nothing left but that doesn't stop me from sewing as at the moment I am having fun working with 'normal' colours:o)) Anyway, you can find Carmen up for adoption on my website if you would like to give her a good home:o))

The day of the Wedding..........

I'm back! Slowly getting things sorted and catching up! Had a great time and so did the dogs - lots of eating yummy food and I'm thinking I am going to pay for this! But believe it or not I have actually lost 2kg's which came as a real surprise to me! Must have been all the exercise as we were out and about every day doing something and we were taking the dogs down to the doggie park or walking the streets or when Tony went for a run around the bay we all went to with the dogs in tow.

The day of the wedding (18th June) went reasonably smoothly - poor Matt (Tony's best mate) who arrived back early morning from his trip to USA/Canada had no sooner put his case down before I had him putting the ribbon on his car and ours! The day before I was learning how to make a wedding bouquet on YouTube - in the afternoon I went out and got the flowers and all the other bits and pieces and then I spent the evening making it as well as 3 buttonhole pieces for himself, Tony and his dad. Samantha wasn't going to have flowers because the florist wanted $180 just for a little posey! She just couldn't justify that amount of money for just a few flowers.

The pictures don't really show it but we were all freezing our bunnies off! It was quite windy which didn't help matters - Samantha wore her thick heavy Winter coat which I was quite happy to hold for her when the time came for the ceremony - no chance of getting into it but at least I could put it around my shoulders!

Simon (son) and Teresa are now in NZ for a 14 day holiday - flew out the day after the wedding and Samantha and Tony left for Croatia on Wednesday so should be there now - text us from Singapore where they had an 8-10 hour stop over. They will be having a full ceremony in Croatia so there will be more pics to look at some point.

While down there I got the chance to go to the Craft and Quilt Fair at the exhibition centre, Darling Harbour - had a very enjoyable time in there! Himself was having a few groans and I really should have insisted he took himself off to the art gallery as he would have liked to have gone there - not really my thing.

Lots of sewing to catch up on as I didn't do any while away even though I did take my bear box with. Finished a bear off which was nearly finished before I left - just need to do the pics now once the Sun pops out again - wish it would as I have a stack of laundry to get dry with more to wash.

How about these for walking jewels. These little guys were found in my friends back yard as she was pruning the Hibscus bush. They are known as a Cotton Harlequin Bug and there are a few different types but these guys must be top of the list for beauty - like my friend said they are like walking Opals.

Well it's here and so chilly! Out with the Winter woolies and on with the Winter doona aarrrhhh! So nice and cosy - now if I was a bear I would be seriously thinking about going into hibernation! Thank goodness the sun keeps on shining most days as I do need to keep nipping outside to have a warm up - bit like a lizard or snake:o))
Amy (mini Dachs) is a fair weather girl so she usually joins me outside for a quick warm up and of course she doesn't sleep on top of her blankets now but disappears underneath them all LOL! Millie (Norwich Terrier) is the tough girl and only sometimes is in need of a warm up but then she is sporting a much thicker and longer coat. Come the late afternoon poor Amy can't take it anymore so we have to have one of our many smart doggie coats on made by me! The dog coat is laid on the floor Amy rolls into it and its fixed into place and up we get and off we go with a spring in our paws:o)) Picture of Amy modeling her 'Smartie' coat (looks like a tube of Smarties) and Millie is not amused!

A mouse has been born and a first for me - I had one of those moments when I thought leave the comfort zone and have some fun with a mouse! Bears rule! but I do like trying something a little different now and then. So this little squeek just needs a good home now - any mouse lovers out there?!
Autumn is creeping up on us now so it is chilly nights and early mornings and it's getting dark quite early brrrrrr! Amy the Dachs is a fair weather dog so she has started chasing the sun spots and getting underneath the blankets instead of on top of them!

I had the urge to have a Panda moment and came up with 'Chi Chi' and for once I didn't dye the mohair because I thought these 2 colours went so well together and the mohair is soft, dense and lovely to touch. This was made for a collector in America and she will be on her way tomorrow to join some of my other creations which this lady has.

I have been busy having bunny moments and came up with 'Flopsy' (pale lilac) and 'Mopsy' who is a little more colourful. Both have been made from hand dyed (by me) from that lovely soft touchy feely Alpaca. These two girlie bunnies are looking for good homes:o))
I am doing more bears which are all at different stages of being made - there is of course a colourful one in Spring like colours (Spring for some of you out there but Autumn for me) and 2 sporting the Panda look design. Oh we must not forget a very shy little mouse who has stepped out of the comfort zone with me! So far I have really enjoyed making these different critters and a break from making the bears BUT the bears will always be number one!

Well, another colourful creation is ready for you all to see - really liked working with these colours as I think they are warm and welcoming touchy touchy and make the bear have that soft cuddly look. I left that long and straight track (was a little bumpy!) for a short time and did something completely different - well, for me anyway and came up with a bunny. Think it could do with a bit more colour:o)) Maybe bunny 2 will be a bit more colourful - got to have colour I say!

Blue Mountains

We have just come back from a visit to Sydney where we spent sometime with Samantha (daughter) and Tony who at the moment are living in Leichhardt. We had a really good time and it was nice that I was able to take the girls with us. All very strange for them being that they are country dogs but they settled into it quite well. On the Sunday morning we took them for a walk around the doggie park which was nearby and which also has a doggie café - my two were a bit stunned at seeing so many dogs in all shapes and sizes and for once Amy kept her mouth shut and her Bull Terrier put away! Little dog who thinks she is a big dog and can take on anything attitude - you know what I am meaning. She's not too bad thank goodness and hasn't got herself into trouble and we don't take her seriously and neither do others especially other dogs thank goodness!

Took a trip up to the Blue Mountains and saw the 3 sisters and all I can say is WOW! it is so vast and the thought of getting lost out there just doesn't bear thinking about!

I decided the girl's needed new harnesses for their trip to Sydney - got to show how smart us country girl's can be plus the one Amy wears at the moment has been making sore spots just by her elbow. Anyway, I found these really smart ones in a salmon pink stripes - very chic in a vest style harnesses so I bought one for Millie and one for Amy.

It was great to have a break and looking forward to the next one but now it is back to work in the bear making department as well as the raggy's. I'm working on an elephant at the moment which I actually took with me but the poor thing never saw the light of day!

The start of another new year and I am already through the first half of the first day. I spent the morning doing the house cleaning and a whole big basket of laundry - had to do the laundry as the weather is being nice to us today after dumping rain on us for the past 4 days! I finished this little guy yesterday - well, not so little as he stands 69cm tall. There is a Mrs Santa and one of Santa's little helpers but I may not get to make them in time - I will try very hard to!
Christmas is certainly coming at full speed and so is Summer with days of being very hot and humid which leaves one feeling all sweaty and sticky - oh yuck!!

A bear that never made it to the website and is now on his way to Winter in the UK - poor bear but his fur is nice and thick so he should keep warm, I hope!
Anyway, I thought I would show him off just for the fun of it plus he is in some of my favourite colours and is a bear which I thought came together very nicely:o))

It is really hot here at the moment and not so good to be outside - while putting out the laundry this morning and in such a short time my feet were beginning to burn - even the dogs were not brave enough to venture out side most unusual as Amy is such a sun worshipper. One good thing was that the laundry got dry in double quick time, nice one!

The day of the Dust Storm!

Dust Storm - Sydney

On Tuesday night my beauty sleep was rudely interrupted by horrendous winds slamming into the house - pretty scary stuff as doors were banging shut and things outside were sent racing across the ground and poor Mr Rooster on the weather station was sent flying over to the other side of the garden! I just couldn't sleep because of not only the noise but the worry of trees coming down and other things getting broken and flying away.
Anyway, come early morning as I opened one eye I thought why is it so yellow in the room - pulled back the curtains and opened the blinds to see a fog of red dust and the wind still raging. Turned on the TV to see the news and it seems we had been hit with a dust storm which was wide spread but was really bad in Sydney. Samantha (daughter) sent me this picture that she (she lives in Sydney) took early in the morning on her way to work and Simon (son) who lives near to Sydney phoned to say that when he got up in the early hours of the morning he thought he was on Mars!
I had to go and do the shoplifting that morning and it was really uncomfortable with the smell of dust in the nose all the time and my poor car looked like it had been on a rally in the desert! Things are much improved today but there is a lot of cleaning up to do as the dust has got every where inside and outside of the house, yuck!

Spring has sprung!

The first week of Spring has passed and most days have been warm and sunny though temps are a little high for this time of the year. They have been doing a lot of back burning in the forest which surrounds me so very smoky and smelly but better than having to fight a bush fire me thinks!
The birds are singing their little hearts out if you can call it that especially when it comes to the parrots! There are so many Rainbow Lorikeets around at the moment the noise is quite deafening and they fly every where at full speed still talking and arguing as they go. There is one part of my garden which is like an express way at rush hour and you have to watch out for low flying birds coming at full speed - many a time I've had to duck! They hold big group meetings or as I like to call it a mother's meeting out in the open on the grass where they chatter, argue, hop about with a few playful punch ups where they roll around together on the ground - suppose there is usually about 50 at a time in the group - love watching them.
I love sitting and watching the birds and seeing what they get up to - got a group of King Parrots hanging around and one of them is quite friendly. He came and checked me out yesterday by sitting on the gutter above and then followed me over to where hubby was working and he got him to eat from his hand - where is that camera when need it!
All this bird watching doesn't get bears made and I've got one poor guy just waiting for me to bring him or her to life:o))

Thank you to those who sent their best wishes in that I get better soon. Well, I'm more or less back to my old normal self - whatever normal is because I don't really do much of that!
I've managed to be create and finished off 2 new bears called 'Tiffin' and 'Picasso' and now I wait for himself to get them up on my website but in the meantime I will add them on here. Both bears look like they have be let loose amongst the dye pots but I reckon they both turned out pretty good - even if I do say so myself! Dolls have started creeping into my life recently which has been a huge surprise to me as I have never been a doll type person but I have taken a big liking to the Bleuette's and the reproduction French and German dolls and I have grand idea's of making a few outfits for them but we will see big sigh!!

For the past few days I have been feeling really lousy as I suffer yet another cold thanks to someone who crossed my path recently and felt a real need to share their germs with everyone else including me! So everything got put on hold while I sneezed, coughed, sniffed and shivered and groaned that I was dyeing to my other half - a little sympathy from him but I got more from the dogs, that figures!
Anyway, I have now finished two new bears called Poppet and Domino - Poppet never even made it to my website as she was bought as soon as she appeared on Bearpile which was very nice and the lady also wanted Pebbles so those two will be shipped off to their new homes today.
Poor Domino is now all on his own and will hopefully be on my website sometime today after I have sweet talked himself into doing this one little job for me:0))
Now I must get back to the packing department.......

Raggy Aggy

A long time in coming but I have just finished my second raggy who is about 51cm tall so quite a bit bigger than my first attempt who was all of 38cm tall. Did I get through it without having a scream and a swear? I was doing really well until near the end when I got really frustrated with something - can't remember what it was now, hmmmm! Boy did I let rip and everyone took cover including the dogs LOL! Anyway, I decided now was a good time to put it away and take another look the next day when I would be all cool and calm - yep, it worked and I got the thing sorted no worries!

Another one bites the dust! I even surprised myself that I got another creation finished and the photo session was done and over with quick smart this morning - must be getting up to full speed now. The cold bug is floating all over my house at the moment in the form of my daughter Samantha who has come on a long visit until next Saturday - bet her partner is pleased that he will not be catching this snuffly bug.
Anyway, Pebbles is now on my website waiting for some lovely person to give her a new home.

I have been very slow but at long last I have just finished another colourful creation. I loved working with these colours as they are soft pastel shades of the rainbow and Jasmine turned out to be quite a stunning little girl - really pleased with her and she is now on my website for you all to see so enjoy!

I have been quite a busy bee since the weekend - playing once again with the dye pot and coming up with 4 pieces of nicely dyed mohair so watch this space.....
It has taken awhile but I have eventually finished my first attempt at Lottie my raggy doll (hope you see this Paula!) with a few mistakes so don't look too closely! Looking forward to having another go especially since I have just bought myself a new sewing machine - yep, you heard right ME with a new machine! Well what right minded girl could resist a special offer of 40% off the price! A huge upgrade on my old tank of a machine which is over 30 years old! The old tank was so heavy to lift it made my legs buckle and turned my face a lovely shade of red. So I'm afraid it got relegated to a cupboard after a while but it always came with when we moved from country to country. I'm not a great lover of sewing machines as we never see eye to eye but it is good to have one especially my new super duper one which is all computerized. I am hoping to make a few outfits as I have just bought myself a Bleuette doll and she is going to need clothes. Tongue in cheek as my dress making skills are very limited BUT I have a friend nearby who is very good at all that stuff and I only have to shout HELP!! Think I may be doing that quite a few times.

I've been playing with the dye pot again and came up with these rather stunning vibrant colours which I then turned in to a new bear and one that I feel very pleased with. This is one of my newer designs which has taken some time to get right after spending so long as the perfect bear in my mind. As usual it took me a long time to get the right name but himself was very helpful this time and came up with the name Aquilla which I think suits very nicely!

Either I fell asleep or I missed something as here we are at the end of another month!
The highlight of the month was a visit to the Doc's as I have been having a bit of a problem with acidic indigestion or reflux (not sure which) something which I started getting last year but not a regular occurrence - really uncomfortable and very painful (bit like a heart attack not that I have had one - read about it somewhere) and nothing I took would get rid of it so I usually sit it out with the end result of throwing up and then it would be gone. So, after being nagged by everyone I took myself for a visit and got much poking and prodding and sent for a breath test the next day. The doc reckons it might be a tummy bug or some kind of Ulcer but hopefully the test will tell more or nothing. Anyway, I now have these tablets to pop daily for 2 months. He then went on to tell me that I was a little over weight and my blood pressure was a little high and then proceeded to tell me all the things I can't eat because of the salt - not amused and told him that he may as well put me down now!

I'm very busy doing my dying duck impression (got the flu) which is a bit of a bugga! Seems like this one has become really attached to me and doesn't want to go away - going the full course this time and I'm now on the coughing, spluttering and tight chest with a thumping headache and rough nights! But never fear Lyn is here and it won't be long before I bounced back fighting fit!
We have been getting some horrendous thunderstorms and we've had two power cuts in a week. Power out from lightening strikes but some smart thinking from himself and we invested in a small generator so we can run the TV, PC and lights in the lounge - envy of the neighbours I reckon.
Poor Millie has been having her stressed out moments because of the storms - Amy is bomb proof but she sticks with Millie just to keep her company. Millie will not even eat when she is like this so the other day she missed her supper and didn't eat until the next day. No bad thing as she could do with loosing a little weight!

On top of all this I managed to finished a bear which I am really pleased with and that is saying something coming from me! I used that lovely soft Alpaca and when she was finished I couldn't even think of a name for her aaarrrgghhhh!! So it was off to have a rummage amongst the books and in my Lhasa Apso dog book I found a list of Tibetan name for boys and girls and that is how she ended up with the name Tashi which I thought suited her very nicely.

This is Candy my latest colourful bear. One to make you smile and brighten your day that's for sure! I think you can see why she ended up with that name as in some ways she does look as if she has been let loose in the Candy store!
She will be on my website and looking for a new home today I hope! I have to get himself to do that job for me because if left to me I could end up in a whole heap of trouble!! I am as happy as a pig in muck (so the saying goes) when I am working with colours.

Rain, rain go away and come back another day! Wonderful weather for the ducks and I've even got a few instant ponds for them scattered around the land.
Well my poor brain has been doing over time and at last I have come up with what I class as a normal bear - the opposite to one of my more usual colourful guys. I've been making the perfect bear like you do - in my head for a long time and finally I have pushed him out and I finished him yesterday.
I am really pleased with the end result which says a lot coming from me as I am my own worst critic BUT me being me there are a few adjustments I would like to do to the pattern.
Anyway, meet 'Rufus' who is soon to be on my website looking for a new home.

It is amazing how the time has just whizzed pass me - I'm sure it does it when your not looking or is it just a getting older thing?! Anyway, besides trying very hard to stay cool with fans and air con doing overtime and the heatwave taking over. The poor grass looks and feels like straw and the plants and trees are just about hanging in there. Certainly not bear making weather - but never say die as I battle on with two fans pointed in my direction and the odd arm or paw pad and cotton go sailing off to the other side of the room!

Last year I happily joined in with a Bear Swap which was organized by a very brave person on Teddy Talk. My swap partner was Beth of ScaliWagGrrs and we decided we would surprise each other. Well, I now have my surprise and what a surprise it was too! For a few seconds or more I was speechless and stunned and that takes some doing - just ask my friends! Muffin looks so much like my Millie (Norwich Terrier) it's unbelievable! Millie thought so too and gave Muffin the doggie welcome check over and then tried to walk off with her - as for Amy she gave her the eyeball to eyeball treatment - a little wag of the her tail - the huff and then the walking off with head in the air 'we are not amused'!

I am not a doll person but I have been inspired by the raggies again and not only have I bought a few new ones (always do things big time) but I am going to attempt to make one, shock! horror! I made one a couple of years back and felt quite proud of myself at the time until himself said it gave him the creeps (rude word moment) and she has never left the bear room since and I didn't make anymore - time to fight back! Already it is the middle of January and the silly season seems a distant memory. We seem to have started the new year off with a few things going wrong - first problem is the poo pit better know as the cesspit (we do not have town sewage) - the joys of rural living! One of the tanks is full of water and has not been draining away - has an enviro cycle system - makes the trees and plants grow and the grass nice and green!
Next problem is the grass cutter which decided it was in need of a couple of new front wheels and no I haven't been doing wheelies on it! So himself is now trying to hunt down a couple of wheels which won't cost us a fortune - meanwhile the grass is thinking whoopee lets have a party and grown like crazy, not funny!! They say it happens in three's so I'm wondering what else is going to go wrong.

A ray of light arrived in the mail today and made me all smiles as it was a frame mounted 'Forever Friends' picture done by Catherine of Bumpkin Bears. I love her drawings and I have another one on the way - a very talented lady and the drawings remind me of the early Pooh drawings. I will get a frame for it when I next go into town and then hang it on a wall where it will get seen nearly all the time.

Well I wish everyone out there a good and happy New Year! Not sure what happened to 2008 as it just seemed to whizz past at an alarming speed! I was all ready to watch the fireworks at Sydney harbour on the TV and as usual I missed it because I had fallen asleep, duh!!

I had to watch it on the morning TV news but I do have to shake my head in wonder at the amount of money which was spent on the fireworks display, unbelieveable! Yeah I know what a party pooper I am but does it have to be so much money?!
So, what does 2009 hold? Well, I won't know until it happens but I do know there will be lots of bear making happiness going on and my daughter Samantha may be getting married sometime in June but not sure yet.
